LETTER BOX WITH LETTER COUNTING FEATURE

Abstract

Letterbox is an object in which people put in their letters so that they can be sent. You may put a letter in the letterbox but it may stay there for days leading to delay of information sent. The letterboxes that are currently being used have no means of telling us the number or presence of letters which are inside. There was a system that was developed but it could not count the number of letters it only showed the presence of letters. Letterbox with letter counting feature is a system which can count the number of letters inserted in a letterbox and show us the results. This will simplify work for people and prevent wastage of time because the lettebox will be opened only with assuarance of the number of letters. Several functional elements were designed in order to accomplish this project such as the sensing circuit which will sense when a letter is inserted, the timing circuit which will create a time delay and send a trigger pulse to the counter, counter which will increment the number at the display device and display which will show us the number of letters counted. Each element works depending on another. So far the project has been completed partially. The literature review, data collection and data analysis have already been done. The circuit has been constructed although not all objectives have been met fully.
